I was watching a Photoshop Tutorial and the Instructor said,

“I don’t have to go to the trouble of selecting those whites and masking them or deleting them.  I can just use a blend mode to do that and that’s a key concept.  Sometimes what might initially appear to be a very  difficult selection to make is an incredibly easy one. “

This is true for all things.

My Father used to say,

“If it is hard to do, you may be doing it wrong!”

How this plays out in life is that often times problems that appear to be very difficult are solved because no one looks for the tools to make it easier.

Here a Machiavelli quote applies,

“It should be borne in mind that there is nothing more difficult to arrange, more doubtful of success, and more dangerous to carry through than initiating changes. The innovator makes enemies of all those who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support is forthcoming from those who would prosper under the new. Their support is lukewarm … partly because men are generally incredulous, never really trusting new things unless they have tested them by experience. “

This lack of trust in change is exacerbated when the change is directed toward a very difficult problem to solve.

Most people have to be shown, as Machiavelli says “by experience,” that the “tool” will in fact make a “difficult problem” easy to solve.
